Street work is carried out within the Greater Shantallow area. We are looking for volunteers to accompany staff on street to provide support and build relationships with young people who may have become disengaged from mainstream services. We provide a community safety element to our street work and offer alternatives to anti-community behaviour. We work on an interagency approach and signpost to any relevant agency that will have a benefit to the young person.
We just ask for anyone interested to have a commitment to building positive relationships with young people and have a non-judgemental approach. Full induction is given and staff are there to support volunteers.
Due to the nature of this work we only take on volunteers who are 18 and over. This is for child protection reasons.
For the same reason, we also require any potential volunteers to undergo an enhanced AccessNI check.
