Foyle Women's Aid established Dress for Success Foyle in December 2018 when they joined the global network of affiliates. The mission at Dress for Success is to empower woman to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help woman thrive in work and in life. What's Involved?
Volunteering activities are varied and include;
- sorting, hanging and steaming donated clothing items
- packing up out-of-season clothing for storage
- styling and dressing clients for their interview or new job (stylist training is required)
- holding mock interviews to prepare clients for the real thing
- providing careers guidance to clients
Volunteer Commitment
Dress for Success Foyle recognise that the amount of time a volunteer can commit will vary depending on personal circumstances. When applying to volunteer you will be asked how often you intend to volunteer - this can range from a one-off volunteering activity, once a week or up to once a quarter, however you will be free to book in as per your availability.
A Typical Day
Volunteers will be briefed in advance of what is required, a typical volunteer team will consist of up to four volunteers, depending on the operational priorities for the day, the team will be assigned different roles and tasks by the Programme Manager, based on initial briefing session.
