Meals on Wheels Assistant Volunteer
Opportunity to volunteer alongside the Meals on Wheels Drivers, accompanying them when delivering meals in the Strabane District area and assisting them with any support needs they may have.
Day Centre Volunteer
Opportunity for a volunteer to provide basic assistance to Day Centre staff. Volunteer will assist in providing care and support to adults with a physical disability and/or acquired brain injury. The role also includes providing social interaction, taking part in activities and supporting service users.
Also located within Strabane & District Caring Services is the Strabane Deeds Group (Dementia Engaged and Empowered in Derry & Strabane).
A SDCS spokesperson said: “The aim of the project is to enable people living with dementia to live better for longer within their own communities and to progress the Strabane area as a dementia-friendly region."
The project delivers weekly activity groups, weekly memory groups, carers education and respite initiatives as well as a programme of events and activities to reduce isolation and enhance emotional wellbeing.
Meeting every Tuesday between 11am - 1pm at the SDCS premises you will support the Deeds facilitator whilst engaging with the group participants, minimum age requirement 18+.
